However, I also always wanted my kids to know the joy of giving, and after my Eva made a gift for her Dad, and gifts for her grandparents, and I took her shopping to help me pick a gift for her babysister, she looked at me and asked - "Mom, if we make all these gifts, why do the gifts for me come from Santa?"
I found that so smart and logical that I filled her in - that was short before her 3rd birthday - and we´ve never done that Santa thing after. We give each other, we think about picking nice presents, and that´s all the magic we need. We have done Santa since they were very little and my oldest believed he was a real person for well into middle school...Santa never wrapped gifts and left you something you asked for along with a stocking full of treats. We don't regret any of that for one moment. My kids had magic and love at every Christmas. Never begged or whined for things, and were very well-behaved for the month of December! They knew they were loved and they all know the real meaning of Christmas. Here is where I wrote about how she found out: http://cindis.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-truth-is-out.html

The three of us (Mom, Dad & Daughter) do our gifts Christmas Eve night after dinner. Santa delivers his during the night wrapped in "Santa" paper...no other gifts are ever wrapped in Santa paper at our house.

I try to even out what she receives from us and from Santa. Anything that requires putting together or time, she gets from us because there isn't much time on Christmas morning to play with the gifts since we are on the road immediately after gift opening...which kind of sucks but we have to go to both families and it requires 3 hours of driving.

Although, I am kind of sad that she knows the truth about Santa, I am happy that I now get the credit for all the gifts. I am glad I am not the only one that felt that way!

Truth or not, Santa will always visit our home and we will always leave milk and cookies out for him and carrots for his reindeer . . . until she's out on her own. It's part of the magic of our Christmas.Cindihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01271479852484289276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6073231987777520786.post-17647890055686968942012-12-21T10:38:17.252-05:002012-12-21T10:38:17.252-05:00Santa does stockings and one gift here. I've never done anything special with wrapping, but this year each kid got to pick a roll of paper, so their presents are easy to spot. My friend did me one better. She wrapped each kid's presents in a different paper, but didn't label them. Christmas morning she'll put a swatch of paper in their stocking so they'll know which ones are theirs.Tara @ Tales of a Trophy Wifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11482352114947524130noreply@blogger.com
