Cure for Cloudy Glasses

Over time, it seems that drinking glasses begin to develop a cloudy film - especially when they are regularly washed in the dishwasher.

Sometimes hard water is the cause, but for the most part it seems like the glasses get a bit etched over time and the soap begins to cling and build up. I've thrown glasses like this away and started over, but not now!

Cloudy Drinking Glass Potion

1 tablespoon dish washing soap (I used Palmolive)
1 cup white vinegar
1 sink full of hot water

Combine the soap and vinegar in a sink of hot water and add the glasses - make sure they are fully submerged.

Soak 15 mins.

Rinse.

Though you can still see some of the scratches from rubbing together in the dishwasher, the residue is gone and they are clear again!

  4. I actually just leave the glasses in the dishwasher and run it as usual with the addition of vinegar. It cleans up the glasses very well and cleans up the hard water stains on the dishwasher itself all in one step.

  8. I ♥ vinegar! I use it to clean just about EVERYTHING! Quick vinegar tip ~ add a cup to your laundry to brighten whites and get that damp, stinky smell out of towels and dishrags. :) Works every time!

  9. Very nice! I wish we had a dishwasher, but since I don't, I will pass this recipe on to someone I know who has this problem with hers. Thanks so much!

  10. Very nice!

That reminds me of a tip my jeweler gave me. (I'll share it now in case I miss Tutorial Tuesday.)

I asked my jeweler how to best clean my engagement ring. She said put some hot water in a glass with a drop of dish soap and let it soak.

And, she said if it's really dull, add ONE DROP OF VINEGAR!

    Sound familiar?!

(Your mileage may vary. Please consult your own jeweler regarding your stones and metal before trying this at home.)
