How to Boil an Egg

I know it seems super easy, but Easter is just around the corner and you would be surprised how many friends have asked me this question!

Here is my simple method.

Cover eggs with cold water and cover with a lid.

Set over med-high heat just until the water boils.

Turn off the heat and leave the lid on the pot for 15 minutes.

Run cold water over the eggs then refrigerate.

Eggs are easier to peel if they are at least a week old. Fresh eggs are terrible for peeling!

  3. Thanks for the instructions! Isn't it funny how there are a few things we are never exactly sure how to cook...and everyone has a different way to do it. Like hard boiled eggs, or corn on the cob, or artichokes....

  4. Love this! I can cook a five course meal from scratch, but by darn it, I could not for the life of me boil and egg. I will struggle with it! One year, I thought the eggs were boiled for our easter egg hunt, but only later when we were playing knockers (a game where you smash the eggs into each other to see who can crack their shell...the one with the in tact shell is the winner), did I realize that the eggs were boiled. They were still runny and my daughter got egg smashed into her face and hair!

  5. If you shock them in cold water and ice for a few minutes after boiling the shells come off very easily immediately thereafter. I've never had difficulty peeling them.

  6. I shock my eggs in cold weather, too. It makes it so much easier to peel them, and I don't have to wait forever for them to cool down!
