Treading Water

It's the final two weeks of school for my kids and I'm feeling like I'm treading water just to keep afloat. I reach this point every school year where things start to fall apart around me. My house is a mess, I've gained 5 lbs., I'm forgetting appointments and volunteer schedules, homework isn't getting done, frames are piling up in my shop.

So, I'm treading water until June 9th when the schedule loosens up and I can take the summer to reorganize before jumping in again.

Please tell me I'm not alone! Do you fall apart at this time of the year?

  1. Ha!...Half the time I don't even know what day it is.

This is what happens when your family grows up and moves out...one day blends into the next. I no longer have the 'kid' calendar to go by.

But it all good ..I think /:->

Relax and breathe and know that all will calm down very soon.

  2. I used to but I have good news my friend. It gets better as they get older. You'll eventually be shunned and it is, indeed, a good thing.

Now I fall apart in February thinking about the following Christmas rush. (sigh)

  3. You are not alone!

Considering that hubs took a 2nd job, I am tutoring overtime because of exams week, the end of the school year, and we got a new puppy Saturday . . . I am barely treading water. BARELY.:) Hang in there.

  4. I told my husband last week that I'm DONE. I am so tired of getting up early, bugging my daughter to do her homework, worrying that she has her snack packed, etc. I'm ready for sleeping in, for super lazy days, for not having to rush around!

    You are NOT alone!!!

  5. I totally and completely know what you are talking about! My kiddos get out the same day and I can't wait, homework, baseball, softball, appointments, pacifier clip makin (enough of the spring babies already ~ ha!)........ it's becoming enough to make me lose my mind! Doesn't help that my hubby had to go and stab himself in the arm with an ice cream scoop (freak accident!) thus causing a hot date night for the 2 of us at the ER. Have a great day Jen! If I lived closer I'd make you step away from it all and have a drink with me ~ If not for you.... for me :)

  6. You are so not alone, my friend. Between end-of-year school stuff, baseball season, hubs surgery, etc. etc. Things are falling apart around here.

The house is a disaster. I forgot t-ball snack last week...the cardinal sin of youth sports. I JUST realized I have lunch duty tomorrow and no sitter for the little guy. Sigh.

    I'm so ready for summer.

  7. Nope, you aren't alone. I decided to add going back for a nurse refresher course to my already crazy last weeks of school schedule.

Sometimes treading water is good enough. Let the homework go and the laundry pile up. What's the worst thing that could happen?

  8. Yep, right there with ya girlfriend! I can't stay up any later...or get up any earlier...but it does all seem to get done. My only difference is that this is the first year I'm really stressing a bit about summer....constantly being policewomen is going to be crazy!

  9. I totally am with you on this one. I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I went to the grocery store 4 times yesterday - once to get medicine before school for one of the kids, once to buy food for their lunches for THAT day, once to drop off a prescription, and another time for getting lollipops for a school project due the next morning.
Fortunately the store is only a mile away.

Yeah- can't wait for June 9th! I'm fried.
