Your Teenaged Self - Feedback Friday

My bloggy friend, Tara, blogged about a book she just read and posed a question that seemed so fascinating to me.  The Future of Us, by Jay Asher summarized by Tara: "It is set in 1996.  When 2 friends download an AOL CD onto their computer, they gain access to their 2011 Facebook accounts.  They try and change their actions to manipulate their futures."

She then posed the best question:

What would your teenaged self think of your current Facebook page?

  1. Wow! Interesting. I'd probably be a little annoyed that instead of getting my psychology degree from UT, I ended up an X-ray tech like my mother wanted me to be...also, I'd be shocked to know that I ended up marrying my boyfriends best friend from his senior year. But I would be thrilled to see that I was NOT in Galveston, and that my home and family are so beautiful. It would be scary and thrilling!

    1. It's so funny how life works out. I went to school for psychology because it was more responsible than majoring in art like I wanted to. But look at me now with my frame shop - you can't change who you are and you always manage to get back to that in life!

  2. I think I'd be surprised to see that I didn't turn out as an elementary school teacher but I'd be rather pleased with the life I lead. I'm glad you asked this question because I've been feeling "bored" with my life. This reminded me that everything I have is good. Cheers!

  3. We are at a huge crossroads in our life, I actually read the book in a hotel as my husband was interviewing for a job. As part of a job interview, my husband had to do a visualization exercise where he had to describe his life in 10 years-physical appearance, family, home, bank account, social life, spirituality and overall satisfaction with his life and then state the goals that he intended to set to achieve them all. If I could catch a glimpse at my 50 year old self's fb page, I hope that there's lots of my kids together at holidays when they come to visit from their successful lives, I am still fit enough to run a 10K or a half marathon a year, we are finally debt free, we have found a permanent home and since we don't move every few years, we are fully invested in the community (maybe I am even on the HOA board), there are some awesome pics of the last vacation I took with my husband and heartwarming pics of our latest humanitarian mission with Operation Smile. Bonus points if there is a pool in my backyard (for my future grandkids) and palm trees in my yard.

  4. Glad to be back on the blogging circuit. Missed your 'Feedback Friday' segments. I hope I'd look at my profile and be proud of everything that I've accomplished.

    Happy Friday!

  5. When I answered this question the first thing that struck me was the lack of ME on my Facebook page! I'm not a "selfie" person so my page is full of friends & family. If I looked ahead from my teen years I'd wonder "what do I look like??"
