Get Your Face On!

I had a recipe planned for today until I remembered that I wanted to participate in one of my bloggy friend's linky parties. Beth, from The Stories of A to Z issued a challenge: Post a photo of yourself before and after make up and explain a bit about your beauty regime. Game on!

Get Your Face On

Here I am first thing in the morning, and again after some make up intervention.

I don't wear much make up, and have very sensitive skin, but here is my routine.

I swear by the Roc Skin Care line. I wash my face with the Age Diminishing Facial Cleanser each night. In the morning I wash my face with Dove bar soap and exfoliate with Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub.

I moisturize with Roc Age Diminishing Day Cream in the morning and the Roc Deep Wrinkle Night Cream at night.

I use Bare Minerals products on my face. I use the concealer in "Summer Bisque" (under my eyes), all over color in "Medium Beige", then "Warmth" for a bronzer, and "Mineral Veil" all over to set.

I use Nars blush called "orgasm". I swear that's why I bought it! (I feel a bit naughty putting it on.)

I line just a teeny tiny bit above my upper lashes (never my lower) with Mary Kay "Deep Brown" eyeliner and smudge a tiny bit with an eye shadow brush.

Then, I apply Neutrogena Shimmer Sheers all over in "spellbound" for a really natural, bright eyed look.

Then I use dark brown Kirkland (from Costco) mascara. I'm SUPER picky about my eyelashes and apply two coats then brush through about 25 times with a dry wand from an old mascara until each lash is separate with no clumps or bumps. It's kind of neurotic.

I love my new Cover Girl Wet Slicks in "un-wined" when I want an extra punch of color.

That's it, my face is on and I'm ready to face the day!

What do YOU do when you put your face on?

  1. Why hello gorgeous! :)

I love the tips, I will say though I had to laugh at myself. When I read orgasm I had to look around to make sure my husband wasn't around. Lord knows he'd glance over and that'd be the ONE word he'd see and think I'm reading something naughty! :)

  2. Well, good for you for joining in! If I was 40 or under, I'd be right there with you and Beth! Like you I have sensitive skin so I have to be really careful what I use as a facial cleanser. Thanks for sharing what you use to enhance your beauty!

  3. Yay! Looks like this might be a very intimate party :). Just the two of us. I so tried to line up an awesome giveaway for this party but it didn't come through, so all you get from me is a "way to go" . I haven't used anything from Roc in forever because the last time I used it my skin turned all red and blotchy. Love that you have a naughty blush on ;).

THANK YOU for not leaving me hangin!

  4. WAY TO GO! I've gone back and forth on whether or not to participate in this party. Still up in the air. I may get to it tomorrow afternoon. I rock the au natural face to spin class in the wee Wednesday hours. Tardy to the Party as usual.

  6. I haven't used any of the ROC products before, but from the sheer sound of it, it looks like something I may NEED! I do use the Bare Minerals to get the red out of my face. ;-)

  7. Isn't it amazing what a little bit of makeup can do for our look. Although you are a cutie in the before photo. I swear by Olay Regenerist Serum and apply it around eyes and face/neck in the am/pm. Never paid much attention to any results until one day at a ladies function someone 20 yrs younger said (with a stunned look on her face) "your 55..God, you have no wrinkles" thats's when I thought to myself."hey, this stuff must be working!" I also adore Bare Minerals and have been using it for years..love the SPF in it! Hint: heat your eyelash curler with your hair dryer b4 curling lashes...it is like heat curling your lashes..works great!

PS..I never believe men when I hear them say they prefer no makeup....they obviously have never seen one of those b4 and after makeover shows.

  13. OK, I waited (and used Roc for a year) waiting to get my "10 years back". I think I just gained a year! Maybe I'd be horrified at the results if I hadn't used it! I just never know what works for me.

  18. You look great!!! I am not in the party but I love Beth's blog and thought I would take a peek at the brave souls!! lol!! I love your make up routine. I've used Bare Minerals off and on since it came out. They have very cool eye shadow colors but I found them hard to get on my eyelids and not all over my face!! Love your look!!

  25. I think I am one of the VERY FEW who has not tried mineral makeup yet! I will have to try the ROC moisturizers though. I am in my late 40's now, but am very MUCH in denial, so I'm looking for any miracle creams I can get my hands on!.. Well.. You look great! Wish I knew about this sooner, but I'm having fun seeing what all the participants are posting anyways! Nice to meet you! ~tina

  26. You're super cute even without makeup! This is a really fun idea. So many women, myself included, feel the need to hide behind the products they use. I like the idea of coming out from behind the mask, and then sharing your beauty tricks all in one post. Very entertaining!

  27. Um, yeah... LOL. Let's see... I'm a guy and I like Jen's blog, so I'm going to try and contribute here. I sometimes put Curel on my face, to avoid dry skin. There...

  28. Jennifer~you're fortunate to be a natural beauty. You can leave the make up in the drawer if you choose, especially in summer where a little self tanner is all you need.
I've used the Roc products and found the best results with them too.
Womanscaping can be a challenge...curled and defined eyelashes are a must. I use to spend a lot of time applying just the right amounts of mascara coats along with the combing and separating in-between, a fine art.
Menopause has put a halt to the mascara. Now my biggest challenges are...finding what won't melt after the next hot flash. Hoping to find the right combination that won't run down my face and make me look like a raccoon, lol.

    Sweet wishes,
    Sara

  29. You're so pretty! I have to tell you that my grandmother is 78 years old, and in a nursing home. One day one of the nurses told my mom how beautiful my grandmas skin was. Her secret was that she always washed her face with Dove soap. For ever. I use the same bare minerals you use...summer bisque and everything. Love those products. They changed my life! I've been dying to try the "orgasm" blush too. Maybe now for sure I'll get it.

  34. You look wonderful. And I love that you are a little neurotic about your mascara. I do not care for clumpy mascara, and if you have to work a little to get it perfect, who cares? :)

  35. hhhmmmmmm.....I've been using Oil of Olay stuff lately...I think I'll have to give the Roc stuff a whirl......

  36. I'm obsessed about my eyelashes and mascara too. And after reading this, I am reminded to add a few things to my shopping list. I am nearly out of foundation, my shadow brush is on its last leg, and I could use more lipstick! Thanks!
