Tutorial Tuesday - Rosette T-shirt

DIY Day @ ASPTL

The "Sistas" reconvened last week for some chatting, eating, and sewing:

Inspired by Enchantresses3 and their DIY of this J Crew Corsage Tee:

and this CAbi Muse Tee:

We set out on another Soul Sisters Estrogen Replenishing Day to re-do our Walmart $5 tee's.

Like, Enchantresses, we bought two of each t-shirt in the same color. The Treat Girl figured out that three circles, each smaller than the next, sewn onto the shirt produced the desired effect. Begin with the largest circle about the size of a pop can (okay, soda can, for some of you). Just eyeball it, the circles don't have to be perfect. Cut each one a bit smaller than the last.

Next, using a needle and thread, just pinch the flower from inside the t-shirt and begin to stitch it into place. I was a bit grouchy with this part, you have to create "bunchy-ness" by pinching the layers and picking up the folds and puckers with the needle and thread. Just sew it messy by grabbing bits of the different layers and bring the thread down through the center creating pleats and puckers.

Pack the flowers in together, lifting the edges and bunching the flowers close together. I used 7 rosettes for my t-shirt.

Oh, and with 13 kids between the four of us, what were they up to during our girl time?

Playing soccer (there were enough kids for real teams!):

Painting their legs red (that was a lack of close supervision thing, oops):

And trying to catch frogs:

I also created a "tuxedo tank" out of a Target $2.50 tank top (check the dollar bins), so run on out to Target and meet me back here on Tuesday!
