(help! get me out of here! this lady's crazy!)
How many of you are in charge of the Halloween party snack at school? (Raising my hand) Okay, let's do something this year that looks special but is quick and easy. Something that makes your kiddos brag to their friends "MY mom MADE those cool cupcakes. She's the best mom ever. Better than YOUR mom!" (Okay, I might have just gotten a little carried away. Really, I don't want a classroom throw down. Sorry.)
Where were we? Right, Mummy Cupcakes! I saw these on Party Cupcakes and tried to figure it out.
Bake up a box of cupcakes (I'm realistic here, kids don't appreciate cake from scratch) and a batch of Martha's sugar icing:
3 sticks of softened butter
4 cups confectioner's sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla)
Beat 5 minutes on high.
Let's get to work.
Give your cupcakes a skim coat of icing like this:
Pull out your decorator tips, find the one that has a saw tooth edge then turn it upside down and use the smooth side:
(boo.)
.
These are great!! Thanks for the tutorial... I love cupcakes & make them like crazy (even blog about them too... HAHA!). I think I will try these over the weekend!

Hi there. Over from SITS. Congratulations on being the featured blogger today. What a cool idea for cupcakes. Hope you had a great day.
ReplyDeleteThose are totally cute!
ReplyDeleteYou, my friend will DEFINITELY be the coolest mom around!
ReplyDeleteI made some similar ones a couple of years ago, but I used airhead candies to cover the "face" with bandages.
Yours not only look more "maker friendly", but they would be much tastier too.

Aww, very cute cupcake idea and what a lovely blog you have. Watched the 'dahntahn' Sunday funny video which makes me miss Pittsburgh (went to CMU years ago). I think you've inspired me to pull out the tips for frosting the next time I bake ;)
ReplyDelete[saw you on SITS today, yay]
How cute and easy are these?!?
ReplyDeleteI'm in charge of cupcakes for my daughter's preschool party. I wonder if kids that age would even understand mummies?
Oh well, I may make them anyway just so I can impress the other moms. =)
OMG these are fab! They're so simple too...I think even I could make them lol.
ReplyDeleteYummy, thanks for the idea and happy SITS!

ReplyDeleteSuper cute! You make it look so easy.
ReplyDeleteI am not usually won over by crafty baking photos, but these are so cute. And I also love your writing, which is much funnier than anything usually surrounding a cupcake recipe. Over from SITS -- congratulations on your day and thanks for being such a good read.

ReplyDeletePeaking in at your cupcakes today and they are adorable. Certainly would make every kid go home and tell their Mom's how cool you are. I had to laugh about your little blog story about your life living with the boys and the laundry sitting there. Very cute and you made me laugh today and today I needed a good laugh.

I just read your tutorial about the chandelier (I think I just spelled it wrong!) and I think I'm in love with you! I've been DIE-ING to put a chandalier (oops!) above my tub and my hubster keeps mumbling code crap to me. But candles!? GENIUS! I'm totally going to do this now! loves-it!
