Here in the UK our schools broke up at the end of July and are going back the first week of September. I'm sad that back to school is coming because we run the youth work at our church and I've enjoyed having all these weeks off! I've gotten used to having evenings off!!
It's 6 weeks in total. Then they have a week midway from September - Christmas. Then two weeks over Christmas, a week midway between Christmas - Easter, two weeks over Easter then another week midway between Easter - July. Add to that the various bank holidays and teacher training days it works out around 14 ish weeks a year. I'm not sure how that compares to you!
So happy! I wish we had year round school. 2 1/2 months is way too long to be off. Most of what they learned last year has leaked out of their ears by now. We're all tired of each other, and the activities that were fun in June are boring now. One more week!
Sad. My kids are so busy with sports that when August rolls around we finally have a bit of time to squeeze in all of the "to do's" from their summer wish list. We haven't quite hit them all yet so this week will bring some fun "field trips' :) I love spending time with them ~ they grow up so quickly!
I'm sad too, even though I was frustrated at times and we were sick of each other at times, over all I like the togetherness. Once school begins I feel like I hardly see them at all! I think I must have taken 2,000 photos of them this summer.
Definitely happy!

ReplyDeleteMy kids think that summer break should be a month then they should have long weekends for the rest of the year!
DeleteI'll miss the lazy days of summer - I do not like the craziness that school brings!
ReplyDeleteThe schedules are insane, agreed. Maybe I'll see you and my other Soul Sisters though, so I'm looking for the silver lining. :)

ReplyDeleteHappy for a routine, but sad to see them go.
