I cut out the shapes using this template.
Then, I used a black ink pad to distress the edges (gradually get lighter toward the center).
I hot glued the masks to an old vine, complete with curly cues, I found in the woods and stuck it in a vase. Bam!
Now look at what Rachelle, from Fingerprints on the Fridge came up with, this could almost be my window. She's down with the classy Halloween decor!
And, finally, I tweaked my mantle a little because I finally found me some...wait for it...MONKEYBALLS! You know I love these things, so I replaced the mantle moss:
And made a little pile next to my candle sticks:
And nestled one next to my new $14 Costco vases (yep, 14 bucks for all three!):
I love me some monkeyballs...

I love what you did with your mantle. And the BOO sign...too cute:)
ReplyDeleteI've got to get some Monkeyballs. Don't you have all of the local sources mapped out?
ReplyDeleteWish I had a tree of monkeyballs! Love that color!
ReplyDeleteI thought that was broccoli!! Monkeyballs...who would have thought they would look so cute on a mantle!
ReplyDeleteFunny story...while gathering the monkeyballs (on the side of the road) we were suddenly approached by a speeding pickup truck full of two guys in head to toe camo. Literally, their faces were painted and everything, who yelled at us for being on private property. Good times...
ReplyDeleteWhile checking out SITS today I saw the word monkeyballs and well, I had to come and visit. GREAT decorations - those vases from COSTCO are awesome! I'm going to have to go there today to see if mine has any. Happy Thursday!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat decorations.
ReplyDeleteI love all this stuff! I have one large vase, just like yours, and mine cost £20 here in England! But it comes in useful at Christmas too!
ReplyDeleteI just spray pant some twigs silver, and hang baubles on!
In fact, most things just get spray -painted to go with my decor!
I love junk-shops and flea markets, and as long as I like the shape, then it's out with the paint!
Hi There! Thank you so much for visiting me yesterday on my SITS Day! U are deeply appreciated!
ReplyDeleteYour decor is awesome!
I love your sign! "Boring women have clean houses"...love it!
ReplyDeleteCxx
Your masks look great! I really like Rachelle's BOO picture frame too. Awesome, non-corny Halloween ideas!
ReplyDeleteWow Thank you! I had a chance to look around your place last night... all night! You have some really cute ideas!
ReplyDeleteI love your sign. And, of course the Halloween masks!I joined to follow you- I'll be back :)
Rachelle
It all looks fantastic, Jen. Is it wrong that my favorite is the "Boring Women have clean houses" sign? ;)
ReplyDeleteXO*T
(That says a lot about me, doesn't it?)
LOVE the BOO frame too! All of it looks great! Inspiration, just what I needed ! :)
ReplyDeletegreat decorations. I should decorate my house for Halloween/ Fall....
ReplyDeleteToo funny about the monkeyballs! I didn't know they were called that!
ReplyDeleteShe did a great job on the Boo sign! Very cute!
Monkey balls? Im giggling! I love the mask..I think Im inspired!
ReplyDeleteI am drooling over the vases!!! I'm not a big Halloween decorator either..well, let's be honest, I don't decorate much for seasons or holidays. But I love your ideas!
ReplyDeleteAwww.. I love these - you did a GREAT job and the BOO sign is adorable! :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat decorations. They are very festive without being neon orange, in your face, hello it's Halloween. I like it.
ReplyDeleteOk monkeyballs. Did you buy (I'm so sounding like a moron right now) or gather those? We have them here but for the life of me I can't find any that aren't already rotting :(
ReplyDeleteOk...Monkey Balls...I found you through your SITS day. Whoever can say Monkey Balls without smiling is a sorry-sap:) Fabulous. I'm waiting for one more project before I post pics of our halloween decorations. I go for the Fall theme, not so much Halloween. Although my walls are a deep orange, so unlike you, my house is made for this season. Found amazing Fall leaves at Target for my clear vases, they also have vined pumpkins. Trader Joes has amazing fairy tale pumpkins (huge) for $7. I could hardly lift it. Those are outside! I'm in heaven. Come on by sometime. We'd love to have you over for a visit. ReplyDeleteI've never had any monkeyballs...never seen them anywhere but your house either!! But when I find some, I know I'll they'll make me smile :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Job! Love the craftyness:)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard them called Monkey Balls, before! We just call them plain old hedge apples. Your term is funnier! Love the boring women have clean houses sign... I am NOT boring!!
ReplyDelete:-) Sue
Love it all!! But I love the masks on the sticks the best.
ReplyDeleteI love your Halloween decor (I'm not a fan because of the orange either) but you did an amazing job. Love the masks and I have been looking for monkey balls! I love those things. Hard to find though.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking your inspiration to the DIY Show Off Fall Festival. I love it!
